Cadillac Mountain is a 5.5-mile point-to-point route in Acadia National Park, climbing 1,420 feet between 184 and 1,515 feet above sea level. The steepest pitch reaches 41 percent, against an average of 258 feet of gain per mile. On our gain-and-distance scale it falls in the moderately strenuous band. The nearest town is Ellsworth, about 15 miles away.
The trail
Cadillac Mountain is located on Mount Desert Island, within Acadia National Park, in the U.S. state of Maine. With an elevation of nearly 1,530 feet (470 meters), its summit is the highest point in Hancock County and the highest within 25 miles (40 km) of the Atlantic shoreline of the North American continent between the Cape Breton Highlands, Nova Scotia, and peaks in Mexico.
