About the Electric Peak trail
The Electric Peak route in Yellowstone National Park measures 19 miles and gains 3,808 feet, with a low point of 7,279 feet and a high point of 10,868 feet. The steepest pitch reaches 61 percent, against an average of 200 feet of gain per mile. On our gain-and-distance scale it falls in the very strenuous band. The nearest town is Gardiner, about 6.9 miles away.
The trail
Electric Peak is the tallest mountain in the Gallatin Range of southern Montana, close to the Wyoming border and rising to an altitude of 10,969 feet (3, 343 m). The peak has some of the greatest physical relief in Yellowstone National Park, rising 3,389 ft (1, 033 m) above its base.
