Green Lake Trail on Rainier's west side is just 1.5 miles but punches 1,315 feet of climbing to 3,380 feet elevation. The 19 percent average grade with sections reaching 56 percent makes this one of the steepest short hikes in the park, a leg-searing climb to an alpine lake.
The contours map an absurdly steep ascent in minimal distance, capturing the intensity of this west-side route. Hang this topo to honor a walk where every step counts and every view justifies the burn.
