Kendall Katwalk is a 12.2-mile out-and-back in North Cascades, climbing 2,621 feet between 3,038 and 5,420 feet above sea level. The steepest pitch reaches 20 percent, against an average of 215 feet of gain per mile. On our gain-and-distance scale it falls in the very strenuous band. The nearest town is North Bend, 18 miles away.

The trail

Kendall Katwalk is a 150 yard long narrow pathway blasted out of a steeply sloped granite rock face on the north ridge of Kendall Peak approximately 6 miles northeast of Snoqualmie Pass. It is a segment of Section J of Pacific Crest Trail and the construction was completed in 1975.
