At 7.7 miles with 1,500 feet of elevation gain, Larapinta Trail (Section 8) runs one way through Tjoritja / West MacDonnell National Park, from 2,415 feet at its lowest to 3,645 feet at its highest. The steepest pitch reaches 50 percent, against an average of 195 feet of gain per mile. The 7.7 miles is the one-way distance of the drawn route. The trail
The Larapinta Trail is an extended walking track in the Northern Territory of Australia. Its total length is 223 kilometres (139 mi) from east to west, with the eastern end at Alice Springs and the western end at Mount Sonder, one of the territory's highest mountains.
