Mount Zion gains 6,946 feet across 12.3 miles of out-and-back in Washington, its elevation running from 1,591 feet up to 4,244 feet. The steepest pitch reaches 58 percent, against an average of 565 feet of gain per mile. On our gain-and-distance scale it falls in the very strenuous band. The nearest town is Sequim, 12 miles away.
The trail
Mount Zion is a 4,278-foot (1,304 m) peak in the Olympic National Forest. The peak is located 9.5 miles (15.3 km) northwest of Quilcene, and near Lords Lake and Bon Jon Pass.
