About the South Teton Trail trail
At 10.2 miles with 3,408 feet of elevation gain, South Teton Trail runs point to point through Grand Teton National Park, from 6,964 feet at its lowest to 10,337 feet at its highest. The steepest pitch reaches 32 percent, against an average of 334 feet of gain per mile. On our gain-and-distance scale it falls in the very strenuous band. The nearest town is Jackson, about 21 miles away.
The trail
South Teton (12,519 feet (3, 816 m)) is the fifth-highest peak in the Teton Range, Grand Teton National Park, in the U.S. state of Wyoming. The peak is south of Middle Teton and just west of Cloudveil Dome and is part of the Cathedral Group of high Teton peaks.
