The trail
Stone Mountain is the centerpiece of Stone Mountain State Park in North Carolina. It is a dome of exposed granite (specifically a quartz diorite to granodiorite) of Devonian age, which has intruded into the gneiss of the Precambrian Alligator Back Formation.
