At 50.3 miles with 1,426 feet of elevation gain, Taff Trail runs point to point through Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, from 11 feet at its lowest to 1,457 feet at its highest. The steepest pitch reaches 7 percent, against an average of 28 feet of gain per mile. On our gain-and-distance scale it falls in the very strenuous band. The nearest town is Brecon, 2 miles away.
The trail
The Taff Trail (Welsh: Taith Taf) is a walking and cycle path that runs for 55 miles (89 km) between Cardiff Bay and Brecon in Wales. It is so named because it follows the course of the River Taff.
