The Ullswater Way is a 20.5-mile loop in Lake District National Park, climbing 2,120 feet between 478 and 1,551 feet above sea level. The steepest pitch reaches 29 percent, against an average of 103 feet of gain per mile. On our gain-and-distance scale it falls in the very strenuous band. The nearest town is Penrith, 11 miles away.

The trail

The Ullswater Way is a 20-mile (32 km) waymarked walking route around Ullswater in the English Lake District. It was created by a partnership which included The Lake District National Park Authority, the National Trust, Eden District Council, and Ullswater 'Steamers' and was opened on 25 April 2016 by broadcaster and film-maker Eric Robson.
