Three Peak gains 1,772 feet across 5.8 miles of out-and-back in Southern California, its elevation running from 669 feet up to 1,567 feet. The steepest pitch reaches 28 percent, against an average of 306 feet of gain per mile. On our gain-and-distance scale it falls in the moderately strenuous band. The nearest town is La Mesa, about 2.7 miles away.
