Windy Peak gains 3,614 feet across 11.4 miles of point-to-point route in North Cascades, its elevation running from 5,480 feet up to 8,014 feet. The steepest pitch reaches 50 percent, against an average of 317 feet of gain per mile. On our gain-and-distance scale it falls in the very strenuous band. The nearest town is Osoyoos, 25 miles away.
The trail
Windy Peak is an 8,335-foot (2,541-metre) mountain summit located in Okanogan County in Washington state. It is part of the Okanogan Range which is a sub-range of the North Cascades and Cascade Range.
